General Admission

Admission to Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWIT) is open to anyone who:

  • Has a high school diploma OR

  • General Education Development (GED) certificate OR

  • Is at least 18 years old and is able to benefit from the college's curriculum

First Time College Students (those who have never attended college before) and Students with College Credit (those who have attended college at a different institution) must apply for admission.

Selective Admissions

The following programs have selective admissions: Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, and the Bachelor of Technology in Applied Design. Information about how to apply to these programs can be found by visiting Selective Admissions Programs

Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language

LWIT requires that all persons seeking a degree or certificate demonstrate college-level reading, writing, and math skills prior to enrollment via a placement assessment or official transcript. Some students will need to take Adult Basic Education and/or English as a Second Language courses prior to enrollment in college-level courses. High School Programs

Students under 18 who have not graduated from high school may enroll in classes through Lake Washington Technical Academy or Running Start. See High Scool Programs for more information.

Continuing Education

People interested in continuing education classes, personal enrichment, college workshops, customized training, non-degree or non-certificate programs, or learning assistance programs are not required to apply for admission, except to accumulate credits.
