A 70-year-old cyclist was killed Monday morning in Irvine after being struck by a car, according to Orange County Fire Authority.

The Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority responded to a traffic collision at about 9:59 a.m. involving a bicyclist and a gray Mercedes Benz ML350, according to a news release from Irvine Police Department spokesperson Karie Davies.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Portola Parkway and 261 toll road.

The bicyclist, whose identity is not being released at this time, was pronounced dead shortly after OCFA’s arrival at the accident scene.
