Two people were killed and a third person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Irvine Thursday morning.

The crash between a box truck and car occurred before 10:50 a.m. in the 6400 block of Oak Canyon, near the Oak Creek Golf Club.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and a third person was rushed to a hospital, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

One family member in a vehicle that rolled onto its side was fatally injured and two others were hurt in a two-car collision in Irvine on Sunday, Sept. 23.

Rescuers had to extract one person from one of two wrecked vehicles that collided near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Jamboree Road sometime before 5:15 p.m., said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Paul Holaday. The vehicle that rolled was a Mercedes-Benz SUV, he said.

A wife, husband and child who were in the vehicle that tipped over were sent to Orange County Global Medical Center, said Irvine Police Officer Kim Mohr. A police statement said the woman, an Irvine resident, was later pronounced dead.

She was later identified as Vaishali Bohara, 33.

The other two occupants, Bohara’s husband and their child, were hospitalized in moderate condition, Holaday said.

A woman and two children who were in the other vehicle involved in the collision were not seriously hurt and did not flee the scene, according to the police statement.

The Irvine Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team was looking into the crash. Anyone with relevant information should contact Detective Jonathan Cherney at 949-724-7024 or at jcherney@cityorirvine.org
