SUMMARY

The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise.  The incumbentdelivers a wide range of HR support and advice to include. The incumbent will play a key role in the success of the company by offering guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations, payroll, safety and health, implementations and administration of policies and programsand HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and management.

 

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities include the following. Otherduties mabe assigned.

 

  1. Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, recruitment, staffing, employment processing, leave of absences, compensation, health and welfare benefits, retirement savings plan,training and developmentrecords management, payroll administrationsafety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, ERISA,AAP/EEOcompliance; and completing personnel transactions.

 

  1. Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommendcourses of action and executes improvementsand implementations.

 

  1. Acts as the company safety representative; supports a safety culture and takes a proactive role in enhancing the company safety and health programs; advises the company on new regulations; plans, develops, implements safety policies to include training in accordance to ISO standards, OSHA and CAL-OSHA regulations applicable to manufacturing; prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends for improvements; and effectively handles workers compensation related claims for the best possible outcome.

 

  1. Improves manager/supervisor and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluates potential solutions; implements selected solution; coaches and counsels managers/supervisors and employees.

 

  1. Provides advice and direction on change initiatives, assesses organizational capabilities and designs programs and actions to address needs and problems.

 

  1. Administers benefit programs; conducts benefit enrollment; responds and resolves employee benefit inquiries and issues in a timely manner; works with brokers, providers, and financial advisor for problem resolution, improvements and audit inquiries; maintains accurate employee record keeping, conducts research, gathers information, prepares reports and forms for audit, filing, and compliance purposes; reviews, reconciles, and approves related invoices periodically to ensure accurate payment and payroll deductions.

 

 

  1. Offers proactive recruiting assistance and leads the full cycle of the recruitment processattracts high-quality diverse candidates to contribute the company’s success; prepares job descriptions and job advertisements; post jobs, identifies effective recruitment resources (i.e. job boards, staffing agencies, etc.) to include attending job fairs and on-campus school recruitment; plans, coordinates and conducts interviews, pre-employment screening tests, background checks, and effectively fills vacant positions; tracks and monitors recruiting activities in compliance with the company Affirmative Action Program (AAP) and EEO requirements; prepares and analyzes recruiting metrics to identify problems and improvements.

 

  1. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new regulations; anticipates regulations change; enforces adherence to requirements; advises management/supervisors on needed actions.
     
  2. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

 

  1. Protects the company’s value by keeping information confidential. Maintains and retains personnel, payroll and other records in accordance with confidential standards.

 

  1. Participates in compensation surveys; proactively benchmarks positions against market to ensure competitive compensation and compliance with applicable federal and state laws.

 

  1. Conducts investigations for employment-related claims.  Provides consultation to management/supervisor on performance issues and resolutions; conducts exitinterviewsto determine reasons behind separations.

 

  1. Represents the company at employment related hearings and investigations. Responds to EDD claims or other governmental agencies inquiries.

 

  1. Plans and coordinates company events as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities                  

 

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.  Although, this may change depending on business needs.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and/or 5 - 10 years’ related experience or equivalent role in manufacturing. Experience with OSHA, CAL-OSHA, and AAP/EEO complianceExperience in successfully implementing 9/80 work schedule preferred. Knowledgeable of applicablefederal, state and local employment regulations; Exercise a high degree of discretion, sense of urgency, professionalism and attention to details are a must. SPHR is a plus but not required. 

 

Language Skills

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Computer Skills

Strong PC application skills. Including complement of Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Pont, and Outlook), internet search skills, on-line job boards, HRIS system (i.e. people soft, ADP, etc.), preferably Paychex.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Willing and able to travel within the U.S. up to 10% to attend seminars, training, conferences, school events, local employment agencies and other locations.
