Police seek public tips in H Mart privacy case. Irvine Police asked the community this week to help identify a man accused of secretly photographing a female shopper underneath her clothing at the H Mart at Alton Parkway and Culver Drive, according to the department's #WantedWednesday appeal and reporting by Hoodline and the New York Post. Police said the suspect followed the woman through the store and allegedly took a photo without her knowledge. No suspect has been publicly named, no incident date beyond "recently" has been released, and no charges have been announced. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Nick Johnson at 949-724-7131 or njohnson@cityofirvine.org. California Penal Code Section 647(j)(2) covers certain forms of secretly photographing under clothing without consent when statutory elements are met; any charges would depend on the evidence. The claims remain allegations under investigation.
West Nile virus cases climb across Orange County. As of October 7, Orange County has recorded 43 human West Nile virus cases and four associated deaths this year, up from three cases and no deaths at the same point last year, the Orange County Health Care Agency told the Daily Titan. Fifteen cities have reported human cases, with Anaheim leading at 10; Costa Mesa and Fullerton each have three. Vector control has logged 850 positive mosquito samples through October 6, including 175 from Anaheim and 142 from Fullerton. About 80% of infections cause no symptoms, but adults over 50 and immunocompromised people face higher risk of severe illness. OC Health urges residents to dump standing water, limit dusk-to-dawn outdoor time, and use EPA-registered repellents with DEET, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Updated county figures are posted Thursdays on the OC Health West Nile portal.
