Rachel's remnants soak Orange County, then ease Sunday afternoon. Post-Tropical Cyclone Rachel, downgraded from a tropical storm late Saturday about 80 miles south-southeast of San Diego, brought rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding to Southern California Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service as reported by The Californian, ABC News and CBS Los Angeles. In Orange County the heaviest totals fell in the Santa Ana Mountains foothills, with Silverado at 1.33 inches and Modjeska Canyon at 1.10 inches; flash flood warnings overnight covered parts of southern Orange County. Neighboring Newport Beach, flooding since Friday, declared a local emergency and closed all city beaches and piers until further notice. The San Diego NWS office cancelled its Flood Watch at 12:39 p.m. Sunday and, at 2:55 p.m., replaced the coastal flood warning for the Orange County coast with a Coastal Flood Advisory running until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Forecasters say the heaviest rain has passed, though a separate system could bring light rain Monday. Irvine drivers should still expect wet roads and use caution near flood-prone channels.
Three arrested in PGA TOUR Superstore burglaries. Irvine Police say three Inland Empire men burglarized the PGA TOUR Superstore on Technology Drive twice, taking more than $5,000 in merchandise, New Santa Ana reported Sunday. Working with Riverside Police, Irvine detectives conducted surveillance, identified the suspects, served a search warrant and recovered the stolen golf equipment. Police identified the men as Joe Alfredo Acosta, 42, of Riverside; Luis Alberto Nava, 38, of Corona; and Adrian Toro, 33, of Riverside. Acosta was charged with burglary and grand theft; Nava and Toro with burglary, grand theft and conspiracy. The charges are allegations, and all three are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Great Park festival vendors say they lost money. Separately, Irvine Source reports that some food vendors at Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields festival, held August 29 at the Great Park, say they faced difficult conditions and are still owed money. Mary Chacon of Ugly Oats Kitchen said in an October 6 Instagram post that the contract required about $1,400 in fees plus 35% of sales to food-and-beverage organizer DLS Events, leaving her several thousand dollars in the red; Por Suerte Cookies said it is "still waiting to be paid." The claims, also covered by CBC and NME, are the vendors' accounts. This dispute is unrelated to the city's Global Village Festival held Saturday.

Joe Alfredo Acosta(42, Riverside), Luis Alberto Nava(38, Corona), Adrian Toro(33, Riverside).
