Agran cruises toward a new mayoral term. In the day after Election Day, Mayor Larry Agran held a commanding lead with about 69.5% of the vote to Maksim Egorov's 30.5%, out of more than 57,000 ballots counted as of the Orange County Registrar of Voters' 5 p.m. Wednesday update, Voice of OC reported. This is the first Irvine election held under all six council districts, with four of seven council seats on the ballot.
District 1 is the race to watch. In District 1, OC Food Bank board member John Park led incumbent Councilmember Melinda Liu by roughly 100 votes (about 39.5% to 38.5%), with former Mayor Sukhee Kang at about 22% of more than 10,000 votes counted. It is the one seat that could flip, Voice of OC noted. Elsewhere, incumbents were ahead: Councilmember Betty Martinez Franco led District 5 with about 34%, ahead of former Councilmember Anthony Kuo (about 26%) and Steven Alves (about 25.5%), while Councilmember Kathleen Treseder led District 6 with about 57% over sustainability commissioner Scotty Hong (about 43%). With hundreds of thousands of ballots still to be processed countywide as of election night, the margins could still shift.
Ranked choice voting measure narrowly ahead. A ballot measure asking whether Irvine should switch its city council elections to ranked choice voting starting in 2028 was leading about 51% to 49% in early results posted at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday. Irvine currently uses plurality voting in its district races; preliminary estimates say the change could quadruple election costs. No other Orange County city uses ranked choice voting.
Dave Min wins reelection in CA-47. Rep. Dave Min, the Democratic incumbent whose 47th District includes Irvine, won reelection over Republican Jenny Rae Le Roux, according to the Associated Press as cited by UC Irvine's student newspaper New University, which reported Min with 120,308 of 211,441 votes counted.

선호투표제(랭크초이스) 도입안 근소 우세. 2028년부터 시의원 선거를 선호투표제로 바꾸는 안이 수요일 새벽 1시 36분 초기 집계에서 약 51% 대 49%로 앞섰습니다. 도입 시 선거 비용이 최대 4배로 늘 수 있다는 예비 추정이 있으며, 현재 오렌지카운티에서 이 제도를 쓰는 도시는 없습니다.
데이브 민 하원의원 재선. 어바인을 포함하는 연방 하원 47선거구에서 민주당 데이브 민 현 의원이 공화당 제니 레이 르루 후보를 꺾고 재선에 성공했다고 AP를 인용해 UC 어바인 학보 뉴 유니버시티가 보도했습니다(개표된 211,441표 중 120,308표).
